Zanzibar - Heaven on Earth

This is an island paradise off the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean, better known as East Africa. Zanzibar Island, locally known as Unguja, is 60 miles long and 20 miles wide characterized by beautiful sandy beaches with fringing coral reefs and the magic of historic Stone Town - said to be the only functioning ancient town in East Africa. Stone Town was deservedly declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. It was able to keep its urban townscape virtually intact as well as many fine buildings that reflect its
particular culture, that brought together and homogenized different cultures of Africa, the Arab region, India, and Europe.

In addition to the breathtaking beaches and the amazing culture, you can find a great deal of other activities. One of the most exciting things is water sports. Go scuba diving, snorkeling, water skiing or deep-sea fishing. If you prefer the land, take a worthwhile excursion to Jozani Forest - home of the rare Kirk’s Red Colobus monkey. The forest has an excellent nature trail allowing various routes, depending on how energetic or adventurous you feel. And last but not least, don’t forget the wonderful local food.

The Zanzibarian cuisine offers magnificent seafood buffets and spicy island fare, always fresh from the ocean ensuring a healthy diet throughout your vacation.
